This sausage gravy is easy, versatile, and freezes well to boot! I like to whip up a mega batch and freeze it in family-sized portions so it’s ready for busy days during the school year. Go the classic route and eat it over eggs, potatoes, or biscuits. This also makes a killer pizza sauce (top with cheese of choice, mushrooms, and red onions), and it is the perfect base for Pepper Sausage Pasta. However you choose to chow down, we know this will be a family favorite recipe at your house.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ramstead Ranch pork sausage
  • 2-3 Tbsp butter or bacon grease
  • 3 Tbsp flour
  • 2-3 C milk (can sub for broth if dairy free)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: herbs (sage, parsley, and rosemary recommended)

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a cast iron pan, and brown the pork sausage.
  2. Add flour, and stir well, allowing it to cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  3. Turn heat to low, and slowly add milk, stirring constantly.
  4. Remove from heat when desired consistency is reached.
  5. Add salt, pepper, and herbs to taste.
  6. Tip: if the gravy is too thick, add some more liquid (milk or broth work best!) If it’s too thin, allow it to simmer on low to thicken up a bit.
  7. Enjoy!

RECIPE: Quiche for All Occasions

I think quiche is underappreciated in American homes. It is a super flexible dish that you can eat hot out of the oven, cold on a picnic, or pretty much anywhere in between. It is great for breakfast, lunch or dinner, and can basically be stuffed with anything you have on hand and be delicious!

RECIPE: Ham Summer Salad

Looking for an easy way to keep wholesome protein on hand this summer? This fresh ham salad transforms pasture-raised smoked ham into a versatile meal that's ready whenever you are. Packed with protein and simple ingredients, it's delicious served on greens, tucked into a sandwich, or enjoyed as a quick snack. Best of all, it keeps your kitchen cool while delivering plenty of flavor.

RECIPE: Kabobs In The Broiler

Kabobs are an adventure! Entertaining to assemble, everyone can make their own to their exact preferences, and fun to eat. Kabob creation is a great way to break up the redundancy of fork and knife dinner time. And cooking options are flexible since kabobs are easy to grill outdoors or broil in the oven on a rainy day. Try switching it up by using lamb, pork, or chicken for variety.
