Smash Burgers

Smash burgers are truly delicious “bail out” meal. I always keep a pound of ground beef defrosted in the fridge for emergencies. We love to make these on busy nights, when I’m not feeling up to cooking a fancy dinner or when we just want some tasty burgers! These are fully kid approved and easy to customize, too!

- Cook Time:
- Servings: 3-5
Ingredients
- (1) Ground Beef, 1 lb pkg
- Lard (or comparable fat for frying)
- Salt & Pepper
- Burger Fixins (Lettuce, tomato, onion, ect.)
- Hamburger buns
Directions
- Thaw ground beef and portion into balls. We like about 5 portions per 1 lb package of beef because my family likes thin burgers with a crisp crust.
- Heat lard in a cast iron skillet to medium/medium high heat.
- When skillet is sufficiently hot, add one ground beef ball. Smash it to your desired thickness with a burger press, large mason jar, or whatever works best for you.
- Season with salt.
- Flip and cook to desired doneness.
- Dress up your smash burgers, and enjoy!
